The Sydney International Spa & Beauty Expo, the largest event in Australia for the spa and beauty industries) was held recently in Sydney Australia. This event brings together the highest calibre of talent, the best of the beauty business, and the highly anticipated beauty competitions!

The makeup competitions are a highlight of the event and there were three categories:

Brides Through The Ages.
The Nail Competitions are also a must attend event andshowcases the best of the best in the nail world.
There were many exhibitors at the expo but what was an absolute stand out was the Organic Zone. It was the very first time in the history of the expo that the organic companies had been given their own area to stand out and shine. I think this is an indication of things to come in the beauty industry.
Companies in this section included:
Australian Certified Organic (Australia’s largest certifier for organic and biodynamic produce)
Cosima Skincare (unique range of advanced natural skincare products)
elly B Organic Skin Care (designed to enhance natural beauty)
Encore Beauty (Serge Louis Alvarez professional organic makeup)
First Love Organics ( Certified Organic,Australian made, Vegan products)
Harmoni Organics (Organic range designed for teenage girls)
Laviol Organics (Premium australian certified organic range)
Eco Tan (Australia’s first and only certified organic tan by the OFC)
Spotlight on Organic Spa Skincare. I spoke directly with Katrina Milham the brand manager and discovered this amazing salon only product that is made in Australia in the beautiful Byron Bay.
The products are Certified Organic, not tested on animals, USDA approved and exclusively formulated for the professional spa and salon. They are a truly natural alternative combining medicinal levels of Certified Organic plant extracts with 100% natural ingredients. There is a full range of products and also a retail range. My skin sometimes reacts to products, even organic products but with these products I experienced no sensitivity at all.
Spotlight on Eco Tan (Australia’s first and only certified organic tan by the OFC)
The story behind this brand begins with this…….
It all started about 2 years ago. I remember the moment too well. My gentle spirited 30 year old sister was diagnosed with a melanoma. I believe through the power of prayer and early diagnosis she caught it in time.
Still wanting a tan but without the potential risk from UV we sought the next best thing and started having spray tans. I then became concerned about the ingredients we were constantly covering ourselves with. I began to research the ingredients from many different brands regardless of their “claims”. It only took me a few minutes to decide not to use their products anymore. Sonya Driver Founder of Eco Tan.
What makes Eco Tan so different is it an Australian Certified (OFC) organic product with a Australian processor number not a pretend Organic product with no approved organic claims. It contains No synthetics or artificial food colouring and is made with herbs, flower extracts, fruit extracts, chamomile and other natural and organic ingredients.
That is enough information for me…..where is the nearest Eco Tan salon!
From salon software, nails, makeup, spray tanning and to my amusement even teeth whitening systems (yes people sitting out in the open with their teeth stuck in the mouthpieces and the whitening light on them….very amusing to see 10 or so people in a line sitting getting this all done at the same time!) there was something for everyone.
What was impressive was the amount of people there, all looking to find the latest products and services, learning and extending themselves and making this industry grow and be exciting to be apart of.
